Mr. Kunneman starts by helping us understand our rights and privileges in the Blood Covenant that Christians have with God. Without a doubt, we live far below our position in Christ. All we have is all because of the precious blood that Jesus voluntarily shed on our behalf.
It was always God’s intention to be united with His human creation. God was willing to endure unimaginable agony and shed His blood to forgive our sins and restore this relationship. As pointed out, God did not cast our sins north and south because you can head north and eventually end up going south. But He has them east and west, and no matter how far you travel east or west, you will never end up going in the opposite direction. We have been separated from our sins forever.
In the second part of the book, Mr. Kunneman explores how blood, water, and Spirit create a pattern for abundant life. He traces this pattern through the Old Testament and into the New Testament. He demonstrates that all three elements are illustrated in the life of Jesus. Jesus experienced water baptism, was filled with the Spirit, and shed His blood. We also encounter these three elements as we are redeemed by Jesus' blood, rise to new life through the waters of baptism, and are filled with the Spirit.
Mr. Kunneman believes in the infilling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. He addresses common objections to this manifestation of the Spirit and encourages his readers with simple steps for receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
This is a good book that sparked new thoughts in me. It would be especially helpful to a new Christian or someone struggling with their identity and position in Christ.
