In Fighting To Win And Other Things I Didn’t Learn In Sunday School, Ron Kronz takes aim at an ineffective, compromising church system. He shows where the retreat of believers inside the church walls has led to the downfall of our culture. The standard solution of adding another prayer group or Bible study will not bring about change. Christians must take the words of Christ seriously in the Great Commission and engage the culture courageously and without compromise.
Ron Kronz points out that most Western Christians’ concerns are with their own health, wealth and relationships. That is not what the early church and Christians in other parts of the world focused on. They worked on fulfilling Jesus’ request in the Lord’s Prayer that God’s will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. They were not afraid to risk health, wealth, relationships and even life itself to see that mission accomplished. We will never succeed in the Christian life as long as our personal safety and success are our most important goals.`
The devil’s message to modern Christians has been, “Be careful, you might get hurt.” Jesus' message is, “I am with you therefore go…”. Ron Kronz also points out that many short-term mission trips focus more on photo ops and good feelings at the home church than on actually doing the hard work of ministry. If we want to win, we must engage in the fight and fight to win.
The child sacrifice industry (abortion) and the lack of response from Christians to this modern holocaust, except within the safe confines of the church alongside like-minded individuals, come under fire.
This book is challenging and uncomfortable. If you feel happy and secure in your “church life,” it may be better not to read it. However, if you desire to see the kingdom of God expanded and the rule of King Jesus extended over all the earth, then pick it up. It will not be safe, but it will be right.
“Anyone seeking to press God’s covenant of dominion must be prepared to face people in all their unveiled hostility. The only way to avoid this odious revelation is to throw Christ’s right to rule under the bus in favor of pleasing people, or to keep our convictions sufficiently hidden behind walls and echo chambers of people in our own camp.” Ron Kronz
