Detective Warner Wallace began his police career as an atheist. Although he worked in various departments for the police force, he ended up as an investigator into cold murder cases. Murder is the one crime that has no statute of limitations. Detective Wallace proved very successful in tracking down these killers who had escaped justice. In his relentless pursuit, he discovered that most of these vicious murderers had settled down and now lived peaceful, law-abiding lives, their families and neighbours never suspecting the dark secret they carried. But nothing can erase the guilt of taking an innocent life.
While working in the cold case division, Detective Wallace decided to use the skills he had learned in solving cold cases to examine the evidence for Christianity. What he discovered shocked him and led to his conversion. His decision to become a Christian was not an emotional response but a calculated decision after following where the evidence led and weighing it as a jury would in a murder trial.
In Cold-Case Christianity, retired Detective Wallace walks us through the evidence. Each chapter unfolds an investigative principle with an example from his criminal case files. This principle is then applied to Christianity. Chapter by chapter, the case is built and presented.
Interestingly, most cold cases are solved, and the murderers are convicted on circumstantial evidence - unlike many TV shows. No one piece of circumstantial evidence is enough for a conviction. There could be many explanations for a piece of evidence. But when there are many lines of evidence all pointing to the same conclusion, there can be no reasonable doubt as to the conclusion.
This book is excellent for anyone interested in knowing if the Christian faith is reasonable. Does Christianity measure up to the evidence? How do you judge evidence and witnesses who are 2,000 years old? Examine the evidence, and make a conclusion for yourself. Christians interested in apologetics will also find this book interesting, as will those who like true crime stories and knowing police investigative techniques.
